Job Purpose:
A Painter will be responsible for preparing and applying paint, wallpaper and other finishes to surfaces, inside and out, following written and verbal instructions, and using a variety of tools to paint surfaces. Other responsibilities will include completing minor repairs and selecting correct paints and primers.
Key Responsibilities:
The general responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

To apply paint, stains, varnishes and other finishes
-
To assemble scaffolding as required
-
To cover trim, floors, furniture and other surfaces with masking tape, drop cloths and other protective coverings to keep them free of paint

To set up ventilators and other safety equipment to protect other painters and personnel from unhealthy fumes
-
To prepare surfaces to be painted by washing them, filling holes and cracks with putty and sanding them until they are smooth
-
To apply primer and other sealers to paint surfaces to ensure that paint sticks to them
-
To mix and match paint, stain and other finishes to job specifications
-
To applying paint, stain and other finishes to paint surfaces using paintbrushes, rollers or sprayers
-
To maintain an inventory of supplies like paint brushes, rollers and tarps
-
To remove old finish using scrapers, chemical compounds or blowtorches
-
To estimate time and material costs on painting projects
-
To clean machines, equipment and work areas using water, solvents and other cleaning aids
-
To review and implement work orders and assignments
-
To remove and reinstall fixtures (e.g., doorknobs, electric switch covers) as necessary
-
To follow safeguards, rules and regulations
-
Working Conditions:
Working conditions, usually, include mostly working indoors and outdoors. The nature of the job is physically demanding and requires a lot of bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing, along with, sometimes, working in varying climates, extreme heights or in uncomfortable positions.

Physical Abilities:

Ability to stand for long periods of time

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. consistently

Ability to be comfortable with use of ladders and scaffolding

Ability to work in various positions, for example: crouching, kneeling, lying down, and access/work in low (40″) spaces
Qualification/ Experience:
The candidate should be at least 18 years of age, should at least have a high school degree, along with at least 3+ years of painting experience with on-the-job paint booth experience. Additionally, a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) required, a clean driving record with no moving violations and candidate must pass a background check and drug test.
